Custom Turkey Winter Itinerary 7 Days: Best For Tour In December 2023, or January, February, March 2024

turkey itinerary 7 days in winter

Planning a Turkey itinerary for 7 days for your winter vacation is the right decision. Besides visiting a popular ski resort, with careful arrangements, you also have the opportunity to visit favorite cities in Turkey such as Istanbul, Cappadocia, Bursa, Kusadasi, and Pamukkale.

Winter is one of the best times to visit Turkey.

We created this article because we saw the need from many travelers to get an itinerary idea for a Turkey trip during winter.

One of the reasons behind this, and we have also proven it ourselves, is that there are not many 7-day winter Turkey vacation itineraries available.

As you can see for yourself (and you probably have), when you search for 7-day Turkey winter itineraries online, not many come up that include visits to ski resorts in Turkey. What often comes up is a general 7-day Turkey itinerary, not specifically for a winter vacation.

The tendency of people now is to search for tours online. But the downside is that sometimes we can’t do much customization because most of what is available is already in the form of a package.

Here we try to customize the itinerary, but still using the tour packages available online.

In this article we focus on making our own arrangements, a 7-day Turkey tour visiting one of the famous ski resorts and a few other popular cities, which you definitely can’t find on other online platforms.

In the next section, we will show how you can do a tour with a 7 days Turkey winter itinerary visiting a ski resort in the city of Bursa, followed by another tour visiting other cities in Turkey such as Kusadasi, Pamukkale, Cappadocia, and of course a tour in the city of two continents, Istanbul.

Turkey winter itinerary 7 days: Perfect for touring in December 2023, and January, February, March 2024.

Our main concern when developing this custom itinerary was the ease of realizing a 7 days Turkey winter tour online.

People like to search for itinerary references online, search for tour packages available online, and book them directly online as well.

Today’s travelers, and probably you too, love flexible vacations. They want to organize their own things to do while in Turkey, according to their own plans.

Here we arrange a custom 7 days Turkey winter vacation itinerary, taking some of the tour packages available online on Viator.

We didn’t take the tour packages randomly. We pick them carefully and think of ourselves as going on the tour.

And we see, the Turkey tour packages we chose here can run comfortably. There are several tour packages that we chose to form a winter tour in Turkey for 7 days.

If you are in line with the Turkey winter vacation itinerary that we have arranged here, then you can also book it directly from here. We will include a direct link to the tour package.

And we also include some other tour options, which still align with the purpose of the itinerary.

If you purchase the tour packages through our links, then THANK YOU. We will get a small commission. There will be no additional cost for you.

The tour packages in this Turkey winter itinerary 7 days are as follows:

Below is an overview of how the tour packages above are combined into a Turkey winter itinerary 7 days:

Day 1: Day trip to Bursa from Istanbul, enjoy the snow at Mount Uludag.

The city of Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire.

In addition to visiting the ski resort at Mount Uludag, you will also have the opportunity to witness how the Ottoman Empire influenced so much of Turkish culture and see some of Bursa’s important landmarks such as the Green Mosque and the Green Tomb.

This tour is a relaxing yet luxurious guided tour.

The number of participants is limited to ensure all participants have a comfortable and quality tour experience.

Today’s tour begins with a pick-up at your European side Istanbul hotel.

You will then be transferred to the ferry port, to cruise along the southern side of the Sea of Marmara to Yalova.

The journey to Bursa from Istanbul takes about two hours, combining ferry and air-conditioned minivan trips.

The first stop in Bursa is the Green Mosque.

The Green Mosque (Yesil Camii) and the Green Tomb (Yesil Turbe) are two important historical buildings that date back to the early 15th century. Both are famous for their pristine architecture and beautiful interiors.

The Green Tomb in Bursa is where Sultan Mehmet I was buried in 1421.

In the afternoon you will take a break for lunch at one of the restaurants serving Turkish kebabs and other traditional dishes.

After lunch, you will visit the snowy ski resort at Uludag National Park.

During the ride to the top of the mountain by cable car, you will be spoiled with beautiful views of the snow-covered atmosphere of the national park, as well as views of the city of Bursa from above.

From Uludag ski resort you will still have the opportunity to visit Cumalikizik Koyu.

Cumalikizik is a traditional hillside town, located about 10 km southeast of Bursa city center.

Cumalikizik Village is a UNESCO world heritage site that is over 700 years old.

The stone houses that line the narrow alleys of the traditional Cumalikizik village are one of the finest examples of Ottoman civil architecture.

Cumalikizik is the last destination of today’s tour in Bursa, and then you will be transferred back to Istanbul.

It is estimated that you will arrive in Istanbul before dinner, and you will be transferred to the hotel where you are staying today in Istanbul.

The tour package used:

Day 2 to Day 5: 3 nights 4 days tour visiting Cappadocia, Kusadasi (Ephesus), and Pamukkale.

From the second to the fifth day, you will use another package tour.

On this 3-night, 4-day tour, you will have the opportunity to see the beautiful natural limestone terraces of Pamukkale and its warm waters, one of the largest beautiful ancient cities of Ephesus in Kusadasi, and see the unique geology of towering rock formations in Cappadocia.

Day 2: Istanbul to Cappadocia (by plane).

In the morning around 4am you will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to the airport for your flight to Cappadocia.

Once in Cappadocia, you will be picked up and transferred to Goreme to meet your local guide.

Today’s tour is Red Tour Cappadocia.

The first visit of the day is Goreme Open-Air Museum.

Goreme Open-Air Museum was once a stone church, where you can still find beautiful fresco paintings on the walls.

The second visit of the day is Uchisar Castle.

Uchisar Castle is one of the highest points in Cappadocia.

From around Uchisar Castle you can see the unique surroundings of Cappadocia with its rock formations from above. Very beautiful.

From Uchisar Castle you will have the opportunity to visit popular valleys in Cappadocia such as Pasabag Valley and Devrent Valley.

Pasabag is also known as monk valley. Here you can see tall rocky structures with roofs shaped like inverted mushrooms, which are believed to have been used by monks to meditate.

Monks would only go down a few times to get food delivered by their close relatives.

The next valley you will visit is Devrent Valley.

Devrent Valley is also known as the Valley of the Imagination.

You can find rock formations shaped like animals naturally in Devrent Valley.

Today you will also have the opportunity to visit Avanos Village.

Avanos is also known as the Pottery Village.

Starting from Avanos village, you can witness how the Hittites used to make pottery.

The material used to make pottery is obtained from clay from the Kizilirmak River (Red River).

You can still see this pottery making activity today. Here you can see how the local people make pottery with their hands.

Today’s tour is over, then you will be transferred to the hotel.

Today you will spend the night in Cappadocia.

Day 3: Cappadocia – Kusadasi (by plane).

Today you will still tour Cappadocia.

For those of you who want, early in the morning around 5.00 am, you can experience a hot air balloon ride (optional).

After landing from the hot air balloon flight, you will be treated to champagne and some other drinks (non-alcoholic ones are also available).

After the hot air balloon ride, you will then be transferred back to your hotel to get ready for the day’s tour.

Check out of the hotel and you will be picked up around 9.30 am. Today you will have a Green Tour of Cappadocia.

The first visit today is to Rose Valley.

Rose Valley is one of the best trekking trails in Cappadocia. After your hike, you will explore the famous rock-cut churches.

The trek ends with a visit to Cavusin.

Cavusin is an old Greek village. The settlement is famous for its Christian houses and churches.

From Cavusin you will then visit Kaymakli Underground City.

Kaymakli is one of Cappadocia’s largest and deepest underground cities. Here you can find typical home functions such as kitchens, dining rooms, storage rooms, and wineries.

Every underground city of Cappadocia, including Kaymakli, has access to a church.

After exploring Kaymakli, you will visit Pigeon Valley.

In Pigeon Valley, you will see many pigeon houses. This is the beginning of how Cappadocia became associated with pigeons.

From Pigeon Valley, you will then visit Ortahisar Castle.

Ortahisar Castle is similar to Uchisar Castle. Ortahisar is an ancient Greek settlement and has a tall and large stone castle structure in the center of its city.

After you have completed today’s tour, you will be transferred to the airport to fly to Izmir in the evening.

Today you will spend the night in Kusadasi.

Day 4: Kusadasi – Pamukkale.

After breakfast, with your guide, you will explore some of the historical places in Kusadasi.

The first visit today is to the Ancient City of Ephesus.

The first time you come to Ephesus you will be greeted with the Magnesia Gate. This gate is an example of a magnificent ancient architectural masterpiece, standing tall as the entrance to a city.

Starting to enter Ephesus and then down the hill, you will begin to see the ruins of the city of Ephesus.

You will walk past the Odeon, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, Trajan’s Fountain, and the Grand Theater.

The Grand Theater is the city’s monument that is still well-preserved today. It was once used as an entertainment center for the local community, and today it is still used as a venue for spring festival celebrations.

The Grand Theater, which has a capacity of about 24,000 people, is believed to have been the place where Saint Paul preached to the people of Ephesus.

The next visit from Ephesus is Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House).

This house is believed to be the last place where the Virgin Mother spent her life until she died at the age of 64.

The next visit is to the Temple of Artemis.

Artemis is a Greek goddess. She was Apollo’s twin and the virgin huntress who eventually replaced the Titan Selena as the Moon Goddess.

This ancient temple was built on a site already sacred to the Anatolian Mother Goddess, Cybele, in 650 BC.

The temple was built to honor the goddess Artemis.

From the Temple of Artemis, you will then visit the Isa Bey Mosque.

The Isa Bey Mosque is one of the best landmarks, an important relic marking the end of the Seljuk Empire period in the late 14th century.

Finish today’s tour in Kusadasi then you will continue your journey to Pamukkale.

Today you will spend the night in Pamukkale.

Day 5: Pamukkale – Istanbul (by plane).

In the morning you will be picked up, and start the tour in Pamukkale.

The first visit of the day is to Pamukkale Thermal Pools.

The pools are natural formations of calcium deposits from the mineral springs.

The water here is warm and you are welcome to take a dip in the pools.

Not far from the thermal pools, you can then visit the ancient Roman city of Hierapolis.

The name Hierapolis means “sacred city”. According to Stephanus of Byzantium, the city was given this name because there were so many temples in it.

The ancient city of Hierapolis stands on a layer of solid limestone, formed by centuries of solid limestone water flowing over this elevated plain.

Today’s tour ends at around 4 pm, after which you will be transferred to Denizli airport for your flight to Istanbul in the evening.

Upon arrival in Istanbul, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel for the night.

The tour package used:
